Eastern Washington University's Matt Johnson (Tumwater Class of 2007) was selected as the Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in a wild 36-27 victory over the defending conference champion Montana Grizzlies. Matt recorded 8 tackles and 2 interceptions on the day, including a pick late in the 4th quarter to help cement the victory. Matt's brother Zach also had a stellar game with 10 tackles and a forced fumble.
9th ranked EWU will travel to #17 Montana State this week in a battle for the inside track to the Big Sky Conference championship and an automatic berth in the FCS national playoffs. Good luck Matt & Zach!
